A spin-on lubricating oil filter comprises a casing, a threaded cover plate subassembly, a filtering element subassembly, a safety valve, and a spring. The filtering element subassembly comprises a central tube, filter paper, an upper cover and a lower cover. The safety valve is positioned inside the central tube and comprises a valve base, a valve spring and a valve plate, wherein the valve base comprises an annular plate and two vertical outwardly convex cylindrical face plates perpendicularly connected with the outer edge of the annular plate, the two cylindrical face plates are symmetric with each other and are spacedly arranged, a claw at the upper end of each cylindrical face plate is clamped with the upper end of the valve spring, and the lower end of the valve spring is in close contact with the valve plate; and fluid passages are arranged between the two cylindrical face plates. The safety valve is connected with the central hole of lower cover in a flanging way through the central hole of the annular plate, and the upper end and the lower end of the spring are in close contact with the central region of the bottom surface of the lower cover and the lower end of the casing respectively. A filter screen is arranged between the valve plate and the annular plate, the shape and specification of the filter screen are sufficient to cover the central hole of the annular plate, and the valve plate is in fluid tight fit with central hole through the filter screen. The lubricating oil filter can effectively protect an internal combustion engine.
